Steel is melting Iron, so they have a lot of similiarities.

When a construction is being built, iron and steel are some of the materials that architects use for the proyect.
Iron is a material that is very heavy and strong in compression. Its very hard to break it or separate it, that´s because it is brittle. Iron can be mold into any shape, although it is weaker that steel in tension and can be suddenly break.
On the other hand, steel is also iron but only with a touch of carbon. It is also very heavy, and stronger than any other material in compression and in tension. It´s used mostly for columns and beams. Although it rusts and loses strength in extremely high temperatures.

I dont think that the killing adjetive should be the one that describes what happened with the old iron buliding. I just think that construction and architecture is being changing as the times comes, is has renovate and focus in the present and modern time. Although some architects stay with the old way of designing and that doesn´t mean that they had stepped back, it is just a way of expressing and having the several likes that we all have.
